5 BENEFITS OF GEOTHERMAL HEAT PUMPS

Wednesday, January 08, 2014 | Comments (0)

1. Lower Operating Cost (More Efficiency)

The most efficient gas furnace has an efficiency rating of about 90% to 94%. Geothermal delivers a over 400% efficiency rating. That means 4 units of energy are delivered for every 1 unit of electrical energy!

2. Quiet Operation

It’s very, very quiet. Unlike air conditioners or heat pumps there is no outdoor unit. Geothermal units are very smooth and quiet in operation, comparable to a refrigerator. Geothermal units are also very reliable since the units are not subjected to wear and tear caused by snow, rain, ice, or vandalism.

3. Low Environmental Impact

Did you know that the EPA and the U.S. Department of Energy recognize geothermal systems as the most environmentally friendly way to heat and cool a home. Unlike other comfort systems, geothermal does not emit carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, or other greenhouse gasses which contribute to air quality pollution. Additionally, low electricity demand from geothermal systems help reduce peak grid demand and the need for more electric generating plants.

4. Clean and Safe

There is no combustion in a geothermal heat pump; therefore there is no chance of carbon-monoxide poisoning. By adding high efficiency air cleaners with geothermal, a high indoor air quality level can be reached.

5. Positive Cash Flow

Geothermal is an investment. For many retrofit applications and especially new construction the energy savings more than offset the cost of installation over a short period of time. Think of geothermal in terms of Net Present Value (NPV). If you install a system which produces significant cash flow savings over its lifetime with a salvage value (equal to the value of the ground loop), the NPV is almost always positive. Many people want to know the “payback” period. We often ask these individuals what the payback period is on their car, or the current payback period of their gas furnace, there is none.

Geothermal Will Produce Energy Savings

A GeoThermal Heat Pump will produce energy savings that will equal and/or exceed the cost of the system installation over the course of ownership!

Geothermal - A Better Way to Heat!

As you know, heating costs are expected to rise this winter as the cold weather moves in.It might be time to upgrade your furnace more energy-efficient model. Why not consider geothermal?

While the best gas furnaces available today provide your home with around 97% efficiency (that is 97 cents worth of heat for every dollar spent), an average, middle of the road, geothermal system is more than 300% efficient (providing $3.00 worth of heating and cooling year-round for every $1.00 spent on operating costs). Some geothermal furnaces are well over 400% efficient! That is a lot of extra cash for you during this upcoming holiday season. We are all suffering the effects of tough economic times, with higher grocery and transportation costs each week. Installing an energy-efficient geothermal system can help you manage those monthly budget numbers.

It's a fact that natural gas customers are likely to see a 15 percent rise in their heating bills, 13 percent for propane customers, but only a 5% increase to customers heating with electricity. By replacing your traditional heating system with a geothermal furnace, you can will see huge monthly savings compared to those who keep their existing furnace.A geothermal heating and cooling system turns your dollar into more than three dollars worth of savings.

Pretty good turn around, no matter how you look at it!!  Contact us today to learn more.
